The 6th Annual Jigsaw Puzzle Contest will be held at the Community Center at 9:30 a.m. Come a little sooner so you can pick out the table you want. We will have up to 8 teams of 3. This year's 500 piece puzzle is called "Three Sisters Quilts."
Please register your team by calling the Jefferson Community Center at 541-327-7996. If you want you can come as a single and we will place you in a team of our chosing.
QUILTING FOR CHARITY
Maxine would like you to join her as we piece blocks together for quilts that will be donated to others. They meet every Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Fir Room.
AN EVENING OF BARBERSHOP MUSIC
The Jefferson Lions Club is sponsoring a wonderful evening of barbershop music on Saturday, February 4th at 7 p.m. It will be staged at the Jefferson Middle School gym (1344 N Second St, Jefferson). Featured will be the Eugene Cascade Chorus, Social Insecurity Quartet, Sweet Talk Quartet, and the Jefferson High School Choir and A Cappella Group. The tickets are $10 each with children 12 and under free. The tickets are available at the Jefferson Community Center, Hamby Realty, and at the door. The contact number is 541-327-7888. All proceeds will go back into the community to support: Friends of the Library Building Fund, Lion's Sight and Hearing Foundation, and other local community needs.
GROUND HOG DAY DINNER
The 11th annual Ground Hog Day Dinner will be held at the Jefferson Community Center on Thursday, February 2nd from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. It is sponsored by the Jefferso Evangelical Church. There will be no cost for this dinner but you must RSVP to 541-327-2531 of rob@jechurch.com so we can know how much food to prepare. The first 75 people to sign up will have a reserved seat. The menu will feature pork sausage patties, old fashioned mashed potatoes & gravy, buttermilk biscuits, green beans and an apple/peach deep dish pie.
WIG WORKSHIP
Have you ever wondered what you would look like in a wig or do you know someone who needs to wear a wig due to medical reasons or thinning hair? Here is your chance to try them on among your friends. It will be held at the Jefferson Community Center on February 17 at 6:30 p.m.
'STATE OF THE COUNTY' PRESENTATION
Marion County will present their State of the County meeting on Monday, February 27th at the Jefferson Community Center. Plan on coming to the Center that evening at 6:30 to hear it for yourself.

SENIOR POTLUCKS
Senior Potlucks are held every second Friday of each month. Anyone over 50 is invited to participate but we don't check your age. Come to meet your old friends or get acquainted with new friends. Blood pressure checks will begin at 11:15 am. Sometimes we even might have a short program.
PINOCHLE
Every Monday about 5 to 7 tables are full of pinochle players at the Jefferson Community Center. If you like playing pinochle or wish you knew how to play pinochle you are invited to attend. Instruction will be given to those wanting to learn how to play. Open to all ages. Play starts at 1p.m. sharp. You will also find pinochle players coming together at 1 pm on Wednesdays.
RECYCLING BATTERIES
The Jefferson Community Center collects used batteries for recycle. Types accepted are: AAA to D size consumer batteries, 9-volt batteries, large lantern batteries, button batteries and rechargeable battery packs. Sorry, no lead-acid car batteries please! Just drop them off at the Community Center any time Monday through Friday, from 10 AM to 4 PM. If you have questions you can call the Center at 541-327-7996.
POP CAN TABS, USED TONER CARTRIDGES, EMPTY CANS & BOTTLES
We collect pop can tabs to help support Dogs For The Blind, Kidney Dialysis and other special non-profits. We recycle used toner cartridges to help keep our environment cleaner. We collect and recycle empty pop cans and bottles. The money we received from this ongoing collection drive will go toward the enhancement of Jefferson's Wallace Park or other worthwhile projects.
RECYCLING NEWSPAPERS, PHONE BOOKS, AND MAGAZINES
The Community Center also collects newspapers, phone books and magazines. We have six drop off bins in Jefferson; three at the back of our building that has been painted to look like an old Jefferson building, one each at HomeTown Market, Freres Building Supply, and the Talbot Fire Station. This is a fund raising program to help pay for maintenance and utilities for our Community Center building. Please bag or tie your papers if at all possible.
COMMUNITY CENTER MONTHLY NEWSLETTER
The Jefferson Community Center has a monthly e-newsletter called THE CENTERLINE and it features a calendar of events, pictures, and other interesting and/or very important tidbits. If you have email, a copy of THE CENTERLINE will be emailed to you at no cost. Please give the Community Center office your email address and request to receive it. Only those who want it will get it. If you would like to have a copy of THE CENTERLINE mailed to you, send us your name, address, and $15 to GJCC, PO Box 355, Jefferson, OR 97352 or bring it by the office. The $15 fee covers postage and printing for one calendar year, from January to December.
KNIFE AND SCISSOR SHARPENING CONTINUES AT CENTER
A knife and scissor sharpening service is in full swing at the Jefferson Community Center. Bring your dull knives and scissors to the Center and they will be sharpened and returned to the Center ready for pickup. Please make sure they are marked so we know who they belong to. By the way, the service is free.
GREEN BAG BOOK CLUB
Begun this year, this club is open to anyone who enjoys reading books and then engaging in stimulating conversations about what they read. The club meets on the first Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. in the Fir Room at the Jefferson Community Center.
BETTER BONES & BALANCE EXERCISE CLASS HAS CHANGED ITS NAME
The new name is Jeffercize but the class is the same. It focuses on balance, strength, endurance and is geared to helping improve flexibility, coordination, as well as incresing muscle tone and overall body fitness. It is held at the Jefferson Community Center on Monday and Thursday evenings from 5-5:45 p.m. It is requested that each of us put $1 or $2 in the donation jar each time if you can. But we won't turn anyone away because they can't pay.
